Dubai Transport Corporation against Car Pooling and Illegal Taxis

Illegal Taxis are defined in Dubai as the vehicles that are being used to transport people, without having a license for that. This is definition serves as a double edged sword, because while it identifies illegal taxis it also puts a red line on car-lift and car-pool services.

Dubai Transport Corporation (DTC), once again warned the public that motorists using private vehicles as taxis and those offering car-lift services will face fines and deportation, according to a top transport department official.

Government should curb illegal taxis but car pooling should not be discouraged as well. Car pooling is a practice common in other countries and result in conservation of resources. Stopping people from sharing their vehicles will only allow the taxis to exploit passengers.
