Dubai in Future: Will you be allowed to own or drive a car?

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is planning a proposal to classify residents in categories of those who can be allowed to own or drive a car and those who are not.

As numb as it sounds, the idea is to reduce number of vehicles on road.

For now, low-paid professions such as domestic and farm workers are proposed to be exempted from owning a car.

Also under discussion is a plan to have separate road lanes for buses, trucks, cycles and motorcycles as well as more pedestrian crossings.
