YahClick satellite broadband service launched by Yahsat in UAE

YahClick, the UAE’s third satellite broadband service has been launched by Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PrJSC (Yahsat), a private joint stock company owned by Abu-Dhabi’s Mubadala.

YahClick already operates in 10 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Asia and will be distributed in the UAE by local telecom businesses SkyStream and Safa Telecom. In UAE, YahClick will compete against du, owned by a subsidiary of Dubai Holding, and Etisalat, 60 percent owned by the UAE government.

Yahsat deputy CEO Masood M Sharif Mahmood said the additional internet service would help the nation’s economic growth and development.

“YahClick … is designed to complement the offering from established UAE telecommunications providers to ensure that end-users, irrespective of their location in the UAE, can enjoy access to reliable broadband internet.”

Yahsat chief commercial officer Shawkat Ahmed said the company also launched YahClick Insure, which would help prevent businesses from losing connectivity and provide an instant backup if the primary link was disrupted.

“This innovation allows businesses to minimise potential loss of revenue or productivity risks caused by terrestrial internet outages, including those resulting from undersea fibre cable cuts,” he said.
