Minimum Dubai Taxi Fare will be Dhs 10 from now on

In another act of autosarcophagy, RTA has setup a minimum of Dhs 10 taxi fare in Dubai. The starting fare for the Taxis will be Dhs 4 but if passengers’ commute make less than Dhs 10, they still have to pay the minimum fare. This is especially harsh for those passengers who use taxis for short commute.

The move came after recent complaints from drivers that short trips waste their time and reflect badly on their daily minimum targets. The minimum starting fare, however, has not changed – it is Dhs 4.

The policy of charging a minimum Dh10 fare took commuters by surprise because it was implemented without any formal announcement by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which is authorised to approve such decision.
