Honda recalls 2,300 Honda Jazz cars in UAE

Honda Jazz

UAE-based Trading Enterprises, having exclusive service centres for Honda, Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Volvo Cars in Dubai and multi-franchise service centres in other emirates, has announced that it would launch a service campaign from January 21 to inspect 2300 Honda Jazz cars for any possible defect in the vehicle’s headlight system and to replace the affected part.

“In coordination between the Ministry of Economy (Department of Consumer Protection) and in line with the keenness of the Ministry of Economy to conduct an ongoing review of all the products in the UAE and provide the consumer with the required protection, Trading Enterprises announces that a service campaign for model year 2002 to 2008 Honda Jazz will begin from 21.01.2011,” the announcement published in local newspapers on Thursday said.

Some vehicles have the wire connected to a headlight switch stretched excessively during the wiring process. As a result of this, the terminal joint portion moves, contact resistance increases, the terminal generates heat and the coupler melts, leading to low beam not coming on in the worst case scenario, the announcement said.

The decision has been taken jointly with Honda Motor Co Ltd and the Ministry of Economy (Department of Consumer Protection) to launch a service campaign to carry out the inspection of those 2300 vehicles affected in the UAE and replace with the modified part to ensure that we give our customers peace of mind, the announcement added.

“This is an open recall, completion will depend on various factors like availability of parts, customer bringing cars to the service centre. If everything goes as per plan we expect it to be completed in 6 to 8 months time,” Sandeep Ajgaonkar, General Manager After Sales – Honda, UAE, told Emirates 24|7, on when the inspection is expected to be completed.

“Currently, other than Jazz no other Honda model is covered by this recall,” he said, adding inspection and replacement will be done free of charge.
