A massive fire, which erupted at the old Al Nasr Cinema in Dubai, has been brought under control, according to Civil Defence officials.
The fire erupted around 4pm on Sunday and has been brought under control in about 20 minutes, said Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Falasi.
The furniture and upholstery inside the building have been completely gutted, added Colonel Falasi.
Smoke billowed from the interior of the building, in Oud Metha, for some time after the fire put out.
Firefighters are conducting cooling-down operation, said the officer.
Police have closed the roundabout and the roads leading to the former cinema.
Eyewitnesses reported flames shooting several metres into the air as the area become covered in black smoke.
No injuries have been reported.
Al Nasr Cinema was famous for showing Hindi and Malayalam language movies before it closed down in 2007.
