Now public transport commuters travelling inside Central Business Districts (CBD) have to pay extra, as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has realigned mobility zones in Dubai.
With the launch of the Green Line, which runs through the heart of CBD, less than a month away, the expansion of zones from five to seven, metro and bus fares for travelling in the area would be affected.
The expansion has seen a division of the CBD into two zones as Satwa, Karama and Bur Dubai, which used to be part of Zone Five have been carved into a new zone, which means travelling between Bur Dubai and Gold Souq in Deira which was earlier in the same zone and cost Dh1.80, would now cost more.

Guess what? If you are fasting, don’t ride Metro near Maghrib time. Why? Because, ending your fast inside the Metro trains during Ramadan will invite a fine.
Ramadan Abdullah, Director of Operations of Rail Agency at the RTA, said: “Eating is not allowed on the trains. And this rule won’t change. Anyone inside the train who wants to end his fast can just disembark at the next station. People can sit on the chairs in the platforms and eat.”
Yes. The RTA believe its Metro is more precious than fasting Muslims.

Government of Dubai initiated another step for revenue generation, on the cost of other emirates, of course.
It is announced that fines issued by Sharjah Municipality on vehicles licensed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will now be collected by the Dubai-based Authority.
The money collected will be transmitted electronically to the bank account of the municipality.
A large number of Sharjah residents work in Dubai and have registered their vehicles in Dubai.
An agreement has been signed to this effect at the RTA head office in Dubai by Ahmad Hashim Behroozian, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, and Riyadh Abdullah Bin Al Ayyan, Deputy Director General of Sharjah Municipality.

The unthinkable has happening. Who would have thought about petrol shortage in UAE? Who would have imagined pumps being closed or struggling with long queues of customers in Dubai and Sharjah? But thats what life is all about, you go up and you come down.
High subsidies leave oil retailers strapped for cash, forcing some petrol stations in Sharjah and Dubai to turn away customers from locked pumps without explanation.
Petrol retailers are having to sell a product for less than they acquired it. Ultimately they will have to get a cash injection. It might have something to do with the government in Dubai dragging its feet too much and not injecting enough money.
